Chord Geometries
ChordGeometries represents chords and voice leadings in a variety of 3D geometrical spaces. You can enter chords on a MIDI keyboard or using the Keyboard window. Voice leadings between successive chords are represented by continuous paths in the spaces. Go to the Chord Geometries 1.1 page.

Triads can provide a very effective way to learn the fretboard, and identify where the chord tones sit on the fretboard when improvising. There is a lot of overlap between triads and the CAGED system shapes (the CAGED shapes are, in fact, triads), but the triads in this lesson are only made of 3 notes that fall into tidy little clusters on groups of 3 adjacent strings, which you may find a. This is a small Python program that allows you to explore a network of relationships linking chords in a wide range of musical contexts. Basically, whenever you have a chord whose size is relatively prime to that of its enclosing scale you can form a 'generalized circle of fifths' (see Geometry and the Quest for Theoretical Generality). You can then scramble these voice leadings as discussed in section 3.11 of A Geometry of Music to get a collection of isomorphic voice-leading lattices. This means you can transfer musical patterns from one lattice to another. My program will graph them for you, embody various patterns in musical notation, allow you to embed multiple patterns, etc. It requires music21, numpy, scipy, and matplotlib. Dmitri Tymoczko (b. 1969, Cambridge, Massachusetts) is a composer and music theorist who teaches at Princeton University. It is :
• Educational, telling you the name of a given combination of notes, or letting you hear how a chord with a given name sounds
• Practical, for printing out professional looking charts for yourself or others to play
• Creative, letting you experiment with chord sounds in a unique way that would be cumbersome to do in a normal sequencer
Chord Studio can play through a sequence of chords, or save one as a MIDI file. It will also open a MIDI file, presenting it as a new chord chart.

What's New:
The whole look and feel has been revamped, from the Keyboard Window to the chord charts themselves.
As the new toolbar above suggests, you can now play through the chords in a chart like a sequencer, and you can insert a new range of symbols, including different barlines, key signatures and time signatures.
A chart can now be exported as a MIDI file. Also, the names of chords can now be customised, so if you disagree with the default name you can override it.
There is now a fast way of entering data in various parts of the program. When you see the cursor change to a double-headed arrow over a panel, you may change that panel's value by clicking and dragging up or down to increase or decrease respectively. Usually a double-click allows you to enter a value directly with the keyboard. Try it over the root note value in the Make Chord window.
